Description
Bring genuine Polynesian heritage into your home with this authentic hand-made Tongan tapa cloth (ngatu). This unique piece was carefully salvaged from a larger vintage sheet originally sourced for a London tiki bar design project.
The cloth came from a private collector with family ties to Tonga, ensuring its authenticity and traditional origin. Tapa cloth is created using the inner bark of island trees, which is hand-beaten into sheets and decorated with natural dyes using centuries-old Polynesian techniques.
Every piece is completely one-of-a-kind, featuring beautiful organic textures, layered fibres, and natural imperfections that reflect its handmade nature and cultural history.
