We’ve been busy in the workshop creating our latest Vintage Tongan Tapa Cloth Cushion Covers. They’re a beautiful way to bring authentic Polynesian island culture into your home or home tiki bar.

Each cushion cover is made from authentic vintage Tongan tapa cloth, handcrafted using traditional methods passed down through generations. Known as ngatu, Tongan bark cloth is made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. It is beaten, layered and decorated by hand using carved stencil boards (kupesi) to create bold geometric patterns and organic textures. Every piece is unique.
Rich earthy browns, warm ochres and natural cream tones add texture and island character to your space. Perfect for home tiki bars, tropical interiors or as statement cushions, they’re both a conversation piece and a piece of living history.
Sourced from a private collection acquired in 2000 from a cultural enthusiast with direct ties to Tonga, each cloth has verified provenance and is a genuine handcrafted artefact.
