Description
Tribal masks from Papua New Guinea were hugely varied in terms of style and symbolic meaning, and were often produced not to be worn but as wall-hangings to ward off evil spirits. This mask is based on an original, is flat-backed for display only and is produced from burnt timber and finished in a way that replicates the effect created by the chalk and mud natural earth pigments that would have been used by the various tribes of PNG.
Please note these are hand carved to order, so are not available for immediate dispatch.
Design and finish may vary slightly from that depicted. No hanging point supplied.
Size: 90cms x 30cm approx.
