Description

Handmade from sustainable Mexican palm leaves, this thatch rain cape with its shaggy exterior and woven diamond-patterned underside creates an immediate tropical vibe. It’s an easy to use material which comes in a range of sizes and can be nailed, stapled or tied into place in single or double-layers for different effects to give your bar or yard or hut an authentic South Seas-style makeover.

Naturally water-repellent so ideal for use outdoors. Colour may vary slightly from that shown.

Size: Size: 1.2m (4ft) x 2.4m (8ft). Covers 2.8sqm. Sizes may vary slightly due to the fact this is a hand woven product.

Installation

We recommend layering these thatch panels at 15 CM intervals for the best overall look and attached using a staple gun or nails onto a bamboo frame or wooden structure. Layering should start from the bottom edge of the roof and finish at the highest point. To finish we recommend using a split half bamboo pole to cover any joins.

How long will it last?

It is difficult to say but in Northern climates there will be a degree of degradation from the wet and windy weather, but we generally only hear from people wanting a top up after 1-2 years of installation. To stop the wind and the birds seeing it as bedding you can always add a net or mesh to secure it.
